Position Overview:

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-driven Testing Technician to support the testing and validation of turbojet engines and aerospace components, including the flagship TJ40 engine. In this role, you will perform functional tests, analyze engine performance, and contribute to the development and delivery of precision aerospace systems in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
 

Successful candidate profile:

Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a testing technician role in aerospace, automotive, defense, or mechanical systems environment.
  • Experience with gas turbine or turbojet engine testing highly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with high-speed rotating equipment.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in using test and measurement tools such as pressure gauges, flow meters, thermocouples, and data acquisition systems.
  • Comfortable working in test environments that may involve high noise levels and outdoor conditions.
  • Lean manufacturing experience is a plus.
 Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with PBS Aerospace products (TJ40, TJ100, or similar).
  • Familiarity with instrumentation systems and test automation tools.
  • FAA A&P certification or military aerospace engine test experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of ISO 17025, AS9100, or similar standards related to testing labs.

Job description:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up, operate, and monitor turbojet engine test stands and auxiliary testing equipment in accordance with engineering protocols.
  • Conduct performance and functional testing on engines and components, collecting and analyzing data for quality and conformance.
  • Troubleshoot test failures and collaborate with engineering to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical manuals to ensure accurate test execution.
  • Maintain and calibrate testing instruments and equipment to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Log test results, observations, and data into digital records and test reports per aerospace industry standards.
  • Support process improvement initiatives related to test procedures, safety protocols, and test efficiency.
  • Follow all safety protocols and compliance requirements (including ITAR and AS9100 standards).
  • Assist with engine teardown and post-test inspections as required.
Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Due to the nature of PBS Aerospace’s business as a defense contractor, this position is limited to U.S. citizens, as defined under applicable federal regulations.
  • 10% of international travel to Europe is required in the first year.
  • Typically, in a manufacturing facility the environment can be noisy and requires the use of protective gear.
  • The role may involve standing, walking, and lifting, and can be physically demanding.
  • Able to lift to 50 pounds.
