Position Overview:
 
As a Quality Inspector at PBS Aerospace, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all components, assemblies, and finished products meet our exact quality standards. You’ll inspect everything from raw materials to assembled engines performing precise measurements and maintaining compliance with both internal procedures and regulatory standards (ISO, AS9100, ITAR).
 

Successful candidate profile:

Qualifications:
 
  • High school diploma or GED required, associate degree or technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in quality inspection in an aerospace or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical inspection methods and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical specs, and work instructions.
  • Familiar with AS9100/ISO 9001 standards and ITAR compliance requirements.
  • Comfortable using inspection software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and documentation accuracy.
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to ITAR compliance. Must have a valid U.S. passport to travel for training.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with aerospace propulsion systems or engine components.
  • Familiarity with CMM programming and digital inspection tools.
  • Previous involvement in facility startup or new product introduction (NPI).
  • Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other quality improvement frameworks.
 
 
 

Job description:

Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Perform inspections of incoming materials and components, in-process assemblies, and finished products using mechanical and electronic measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMMs).
  • Verify conformity to engineering drawings, technical specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Document all inspection results, discrepancies, and non-conformance reports in accordance with quality management systems.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action processes (CAPA).
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and promote continuous improvement.
  • Maintain traceability and documentation for all inspected components, in line with ITAR and AS9100 requirements.
  • Participate in internal audits and support external regulatory inspections or customer audits as required.
  • Ensure the calibration and proper care of inspection equipment and tools.
  • Help implement and sustain best practices across the manufacturing floor to promote a culture of quality.
 
Requirements and Work Environment:
 
  • Due to the nature of PBS Aerospace’s business as a defense contractor, this position is limited to U.S. citizens, as defined under applicable federal regulations.
  • 10% of international travel to Europe is required in the first year.
  • Typically, in a manufacturing facility the environment can be noisy and requires the use of protective gear.
  • The role may involve standing, walking, and lifting, and can be physically demanding.
  • Able to lift to 50 pounds.
