Position Overview:
 
As a Propulsion Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the design, development, and testing of turbojet propulsion components and systems. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure project deliverables are met with precision, efficiency, and adherence to the highest industry standards.

Successful candidate profile:

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline (advanced degree a plus).
  • 2-5 years of experience with gas turbines or in the aerospace industry.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and assembly (Creo preferred).
  • Working knowledge of ASME GD&T and technical drafting standards.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, materials science, and turbomachinery design principles.
  • Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing methods such as brazing, welding, machining, additive manufacturing, casting, and forging.

 

Job description:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own the design and development of propulsion components and systems to meet performance and regulatory standards.
  • Lead propulsion-related projects from concept to validation, ensuring scope, cost, and schedule are maintained.
  • Create high-quality design documentation and lead reviews as part of the aerospace phase-gate design process.
  • Develop technical drawings, specifications, and reports for the manufacturing and integration of turbomachinery components.
  • Plan and execute test programs for propulsion systems, analyze performance data, and generate supporting reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to align project objectives and execution.

Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Due to the nature of PBS Aerospace’s business as a defense contractor, this position is limited to U.S. citizens, as defined under applicable federal regulations.
  • 10% of international travel to Europe is required in the first year.
  • Typically, in a manufacturing facility the environment can be noisy and requires the use of protective gear.
  • The role may involve standing, walking, and lifting, and can be physically demanding.
  • Able to lift to 50 pounds.
