Engine Systems Engineer

General description of the position:

Reporting to the Director of U.S. Sales and Operations, you will support the Business Development and Sales teams in interfacing with prospective DoD Unmanned Air System and small experimental OEM’s and end-users as required in support of the pursuit of PBS Aerospace turbojet, turboshaft, and turboprop engine platform sales and validation of both new and retrofit air vehicle gas turbine product (engines, APU’s and/or ECS) installations as follows:

  • Serving as the PBS Aerospace technical liaison between customers, Business Development and Sales Team members and gas turbine engine, APU and ECS Design, Service and Manufacturing engineers, and Logistics team specialists in the Czech Republic as required to:
     
    • Respond to prospective customer’s vehicle operability and aircraft engine system installation design and interface questions.
    • Lead all PBS Aerospace new air vehicle and engine systems integration installation design, validation ground and flight test program planning, airworthiness, and test execution.
       
  • Serving as the PBS Aerospace technical Subject Matter Expert on PBS Tech Manuals, including Installation Design, Inspection, Maintenance and Repair manuals, and procedures, and Illustrated Parts Catalogs.
  • Serving as the PBS Aerospace U.S. champion for technical processes, best practices, and tool development around the focused area(s) of propulsion system engineering and aircraft integration.

Successful candidate profile:

  • This position requires a B.S. degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience; DoD ecosystem experience preferred. US Citizenship is required.
  • Highly knowledgeable in air vehicle systems engineering principles, theories, concepts and practices, integration processes, ground and flight validation testing, and airworthiness requirements for mission and safety-critical engine and air vehicle accessory systems.
  • Experience and demonstrated success in training and mentoring less experienced engineering team members.

Job description:

  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
  • Demonstrated competence in air vehicle operability, aircraft engine installation design, engine and interface systems technical specifications and wire diagrams (Air, Lube, Fuel, Electrical and Control Systems), and engine-installed air vehicle performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with customers, other companies, airworthiness authorities, and internal teams to maximize the operability, performance, reliability, and safety of the integrated aircraft and PBS propulsion systems and accessories.
  • Excellent attention to detail with concise/precise oral and written communication skills - translate technical ideas into laymen’s terms and able to work closely with HQ teams in the Czech Republic who possess varying levels of English-speaking and writing skills.
  • Be self-directed, able to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives with minimal oversight.
